Early days
Music has been a part of Paul’s life since he was old enough to sing. Wailing along to Tom Jones’ 1967 hit “What’s new pussycat” at the tender age of three is his earliest recognition of simply wanting to be a singer.
As soon as Paul started school, the Church Choir beckoned with Paul quickly making his mark as a soloist and learning how to sing making use of the wonderful acoustics of St Stephen’s Church close to his Nottingham home.
Early gigs
And then...
Secondary school saw Paul widen his skills playing the Trombone in the Nottingham Youth Orchestra and studying music formally both at school and college. Paul’s first professional engagements were at the age of 14 playing the Hammond T5 organ at the local pubs, developing repertoire and learning how to create a party atmosphere, a skill which has proved invaluable to this very day. Back then, the “singalong” was simply the best way to make a roomful of drinkers happy and to this day, Paul still encourages plenty of audience participation.
Paul’s desire to travel as performer has taken him all over the world. Like many entertainers, it all started in the holiday hotspots of Spain and then the rest of Europe beckoned taking in France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark and Norway, with gigs in the USA and Australia thrown in for good measure. Add a few cruise ships and a record deal with Virgin music signing his band ‘Cut” and you begin to understand how Paul has developed into an accomplished an experienced performer
